What do you think Van Gogh was feeling when he made the Cafe Terrace at Night?
Vincent Van Gogh was a driven man. Any scene was grist to his artistic mill. There was no intention to communicate a feeling even though our interpretations of the work might lead us to think there was.
I have been to that cafe in Arles - as I recall he lived right near there and drank alcohol there every night. He was tired of painting sunflowers and landscapes so tried to capture the city of arles.
maybe it was night when he painted it? he just painted you toff im sick of artsy wankers looking for meaning in swirly colours
to make some dough...something to pay for his daily existence.
