You have plenty of options for introducing color into a girl's room without painting the walls, no matter what color scheme she likes. Whether you want to avoid painting a girl's bedroom because you are renting or you just want to keep the house in a neutral color palette, there are plenty of ways to introduce color without the permanence of paint. You can add splashes of color to her room with large pieces of furniture, wall art and accessories or rugs; bright pinks and patterns will appeal to girls of all ages and are readily available. Using colorful pieces and accents allows you to move the focus away from the plain walls; you may not even miss the paint at all.
Choose a color palette or theme for the room. Using a cohesive color scheme or theme helps pull the room together. Consider classic soft pinks, or choose a bright pink and zebra print for extra glamour. You can also theme the room around a favorite television, book or movie character and use items from that theme to decorate the room.
Choose and install vinyl wall clings that work with the theme you have chosen. Vinyl clings are designed to stick to the wall without adhesive and can be removed in seconds when needed. Clings range in size from an inch to more than 6 feet in height, so finding clings to suit your room shape, colors and themes isn't difficult.
Attach posters or framed wall art to select walls to add both color and interest. Even a framed mirror will work, since it will reflect the colorful pieces used elsewhere in the room.
Add a tall room screen to provide height and color. You can use this behind the bed or to section off a portion of the room. Look for a fabric screen in a color that matches your chosen decorating scheme that is at least 6 feet tall to cover a good portion of bare wall.
Select bedding, including a colorful comforter, sheets and throw pillows, to add a blast of color to the room.
Choose a large, interesting throw rug and cover the room's existing carpeting or flooring. Using an eye-catching rug will draw the eye away from the plain walls.
