Wall Words and Graphics
Adding color, graphic elements and even words -- or your own name or personalized phrase -- is quick and simple. You can purchase wall words and graphics at many major big-box stores, or you can custom order them online in a variety of colors and with your own personalizations. These graphics are best applied to smooth walls without texture, but they peel off smoothly and leave no damage if applied correctly. They are relatively inexpensive and add personality and color to your room.
Fabric
Fabric added to the walls offers texture and color to your space without the use of paint. You can add fabric to your walls temporarily by applying it to an inexpensive art canvas, which comes in many sizes and scales, making it a good choice for any size wall. A large fabric-covered canvas can have a huge impact on a plain white wall. To cover, simply spray the canvas with spray adhesive, and wrap the fabric tightly around it. Let it dry completely, and attach the canvas to the wall.
Eclectic Frames
Although white or beige walls are boring, they make a good backdrop for vibrant pops of color from an eclectic collection of picture frames. Purchase several different styles and types; if you are on budget, purchase them from a thrift store and spray paint them. Fill your frames with vintage postcards, old pictures, pieces of bright fabric or other interesting and bright pieces that will draw the eye. These pops of color against the white wall will liven up your room.
Funky Plates
A collection of vintage plates will add life and color to your room and is sure to be a conversation starter. Interesting plates are always available at flea markets and thrift stores and are often quite affordable. Hang them in an interesting way on your wall, either in small bunches here and there or in larger groups along bigger walls. A variety of color in your collection will look eclectic and fun while a collection with a theme or a unified color will look much more refined.
