Painting of historically famous Russian who struck his son with a cane/staff killing him?

I was on Tumblr not too long ago and came across a picture of a painting and supposedly (according to the caption) a man was angry at his son and hit him in the head with a cane or staff and ultimately killed him. I think the actual painting was of the father kneeled down holding his son and looking horrified at what he'd done.

If you know the name/artist of the painting, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)
