the PERCEPTION of a color changes with different surroundings. you've seen illusion where they take a small grey square and place it in a green background, and it APPEARS reddish. in lay terms, a background of strong color "takes away" that color from whatever you place on it. therefore, take whatever color you have that has some red in it and place in in a field of it's "added color" and it will appear more reddish. example: take orange (red + yellow) and put some of it in a large field of strong yellow, and it will appear more reddish. if you place it in a red field it will look more yellowish. you cannot change color to red, but you can control what colors you put around it.
