hi,
the train station is at saint-raphael - valescure, don t worry at all. Some travel agents call it frejus but it s not right and anyway frejus is just a few minutes distance from st raphael, there are cabs and coachs but you won t need them.
you ll take the tgv in paris at the train station "gare de Lyon", the train terminus is Ventimiglia or Nice ... you ll get off at saint raphael valescure. the last stop before st raphael is usually "les arcs draguignan".
it s the highest season so I think you won t find cheap tickets. you can check the prices at www.sncf.com see also the timetable.
eventhough you come from the USA and are familiar with huge airports etc, the train station "Gare de Lyon" even if it s not that big, the tgv s departs from 2 differents places. check asap the platform to know in advance and don t miss your train. Platforms are divided, either with letters or with numbers, one of them is at the bottom of the station and on the left, the other one is close to the entrance.
if you don t want to buy your tickets in advance on internet, you can buy them at the station, automatic machines which only accept credit cards or queueing ... but if you don t buy your ticket in advance you risk not to find a seat and will have to stay in paris, lots of people take that train, even in winter. if possible, buy it on internet at sncf.com which is the french rail system, it s absolutely safe and there s an English version.
*** try to take a direct train, without changing. direct train takes 4:45' to st raphael, otherwise it s longer and not practical to change train when you have luggage.
i just checked the prices & saw 1 way tickets on 1st class x 1st August from 58 euros, they usually cost around 100 euros on 1 st class.
