Horse is always known as the clever, faithful, brave animal that is able to endure hard work for its characteristic. The ancients of China regard the horse as the symbol of honour, auspiciousness and authority. They often compare horse to talented person as well.
Auspicious &Fengshui Meaning
In China, a lot of idioms to encourage endeavour or success are relative to horse (马ma). Such as 龙马精神 (full of vigour, long ma jing shen), 马到成功(win speedy success, ma dao cheng gong), 一马当先(take the lead, yi ma dang xian) and so on.
All the Chinese paintings/scrolls of horse are bound up with positive, progress and prosperity.

Monkey and Horse Fengshui Painting: When horse and monkey are drawed both in one picture, it implies the wish to become a high ranking official soon. This is because there is a Chinese phrase 马上封侯 (be appointed a marquis at once, ma shang feng hou). Since ma is a homonym of "horse" and hou is a homonym of "marquis", feng hou can mean "to be appointed a marquis".
Horse and Dragon Painting: This image called龙马精神 (full of vigour, long ma jing shen). The ancients of China think that horse and dragon are in close relations. They can be interchanged according to the book of Changes. This painting symbolizes that people is full of beans.
