The Impressionist Movement lasted 8 years (the name came from a Monet painting). The first artist who falls under the category of Post- Impressionist perhaps is Serraut (spell check tells me I got his name wrong) He invented the style of art known as Divisionism this involved the painstaking application of dots using conflicting colors to add depth.
