Light against Darkness.
Good against Evil.
Right against Wrong.
 
Notice how the only light part of the entire painting is David.
The background is dark, Goliath is dark, the foreground is dark.
 
In the end...LIGHT PREVAILS OVER DARKNESS.
In this painting...literally.
