Celebrate a birthday, bridal shower or holiday by painting wine glasses with words and images that suit the occasion. Enamel paint is durable and will bond to a glass surface. It is also available in many hues, making any illustration within your reach. If you lack confidence in your drawing skills, use paper templates affixed to the reverse side of the glass as a guide. Write the name of the recipient, or sketch simple, themed imagery like presents, wedding bells or Valentine hearts.
1
Size illustrations or clip art to coin-sized images in a blank document on a computer. Print the images. Practice sketching your images on paper with a pencil if you want to use personal illustrations instead of digital graphics.
2
Cut the images out of the paper. Affix the images inside the wine glass with small pieces of tape.
3
Shake each paint pen before you use it for the first time. Draw on the exterior of the glass. Follow the template to recreate the desired image.
4
Relocate the templates inside the glass, as needed. Allow paint three minutes to dry before applying another paint color to add details to the illustration. For example, if you are drawing a bunch of grapes, draw the cluster of round purple circles. Allow the paint a few minutes to set. Paint any green leaves or curled vine that will overlap some of the grapes after the drying time.
5
Continue drawing images in paint across the surface of the glass until you achieve the desired decoration. Outline light-colored images with a dark paint marker, so they are easy to distinguish.
6
Remove the templates from inside the glass. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly overnight.
7
Wipe the inside of the glass with a washcloth to remove any tape residue before you use the glass. Carefully hand-wash the glass after use. Refrain from wiping the painted surface of the glass unless it is dirty. The enamel paint can get wet, but it is best if that happens infrequently.
