How to Paint Decorations on Nails

0 votes
The appearance of your nails is something you can change frequently since it is so easy to paint them or remove nail polish in minutes, without any lasting consequences. You can modify your nail polish daily, weekly or at your convenience. When getting your nails done at a salon, you may get decorations painted on your nails. You can make these same designs yourself at home and save the cost and time of going to a nail salon.

  1. Paint your nails with two coats of your base color. Wait for the nail polish to be completely dry.
  2. Bend a bobby pin until it is straight to make it a tool in your decorating process. It will be similar to a toothpick, but thicker.
  3. Pour some of the nail polish color or colors that you are decorating with onto a paper plate.
  4. Dip either the bobby pin, for thicker lines and dots, or a toothpick, for thinner lines and dots, into the nail polish. Draw your design carefully, making sure not to bleed the colors. Take your time, and get the assistance of a friend if your hand isn't steady.
  5. Place adhesive rhinestones on your nails if you want additional sparkle. Once the design dries, add clear-coat polish over the nail to prevent the design from chipping earlier. This also adds shine to the design and secures the rhinestones if you used them.
  6. Create designs to coordinate with an upcoming holiday or season. For example, make your nails patriotic by alternating blue and red nail polish with white stripes to represent the flag. Use little star stickers to add to your overall look. Alternatively, try making a flower by placing a large dot in the center of your nail with the bobby pin and drawing lines out from the dot for petals. Stick a rhinestone in the center for some sparkle.
