Klimt created the painting of The Beethoven Frieze as requested by the 14th Vienna Secessionist exhibition. This exhibition was used to celebrate Beethoven and other pieces of art. The painting was put in storage after the exhibition ended and stayed there until 1986.
The painting features two females and a male surrounded by a giant and gold. Both women appear naked and the male has only a long skirt on. It is meant to portray evil forces as well as internal weakness. Women are leaning their heads to each other, one has red hair and the other has dark blonde. The woman with red hair is putting something in the man’s mouth while he standing, gazing into her eyes. Blue, gold, brown and red are the most noticeable colors on the painting.
