Claude Lorraine- a French landscape painter who amazingly captures the essence of natural light. When you are in the museum looking at his paintings it's almost as if you are looking out a window. I also love the classical themes he returns to in his paintings. (His pupil was William Turner, the landscape/seascape English painter who is perhaps better known, but not as good in my opinion.)
