John Constable is well known as a Romantic painter.  How (or in which elements) do his paintings reflect the style and spirit of Romanticism?

Following are two links to information about John Constable. Compared to the more dramatic work of Goya or the ethereal qualities of Turner’s paintings, Constable seems a bit dull and definitely prosaic.

The following website has a concise but comprehensive and descriptive account of Romanticism that seems to capture some of the movement’s spirit. It seems to give one more of an idea how Constable filled a niche in that school.
