Use acrylic paints to paint designs on clothing. Create your own designs or use stencils to make original designs. Make painted clothing as gifts for family and friends. Make matching shirts for kids' sports teams or for large family events. Consider a cottage business and sell your painted clothes to small specialty boutiques.

Determine the layout of the design and secure the stencils in place with low tack painters tape.

Dip a small sponge tape brush into acrylic paint and paint the stenciled design. Paint from the stencil's edge toward the center of the design so the paint doesn't bleed under the stencil.

Reposition the stencils until the design is complete. Allow the acrylic paint to dry overnight.

Draw a design lightly onto the fabric with a pencil.

Use a thin artist's brush to paint in the design.

Let the acrylic paint dry overnight.

Lay down plastic sheeting and spread the clothing flat on top of the plastic.

Tape grids similar to a tic-tac-toe board game on the fabric, using low tack painters tape.

Dip paint brushes into the acrylic paints and splash them across the clothing. Hold the brush close to the clothing and pull the bristles back with your finger, creating splatters on the clothing.

Let the acrylic paint dry overnight before removing the painter's tape.
