Decorating your home, and the multitude of decisions that come with it, can be a fun yet overwhelming task. One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to create a major change is using paint. Changing the colors of your walls will completely overhaul the look of any room. When you are choosing paint colors, consider the décor in the rooms, and the look that you hope to convey.
1
Paint your walls in a pearlescent version of jewel tones. This is a way to introduce color into your space without it overwhelming the rooms. Pearl tones of the color rose, plum and coral will make your walls sparkle. If you have trim in the room, paint that in cream colors or even white.
2
Paint vertical strips on your wall. This can be colorful or neutral, depending on your décor style. Paint one color on the entire wall, such as cream or beige. Before painting the stripes, allow the paint to dry. Use painting tape to mark out the stripes and paint your second color within the lines. Some ideas for the vertical stripes include gold or taupe.
3
Paint an accent wall in your home. Paint all of the walls, except for the accent wall, in a soft beige or similar neutral color. Paint the accent wall in a bold color such as hunter green, tomato red or tangerine orange.
4
Use a sponge to decorate your walls with paint. Apply a base coat of paint to the walls, such as white or light yellow. Use the sponge to apply a darker shade of paint on top of it in a dabbing motion. Choose a color such as a soft orange or sage green.
