basically we are going to create a painting in giuseppe arcimboldo's style for exam, as the teacher informed us today.

(For those of you who dont know what his artwork is like, its portraits of people using objects, search his name on google images and you'll see what i mean)

Its weeks away but i would like to practice in advance so i get used to making portraits out of objects and things so i wont be just sitting there thinking how i should start.

my point of all this being, can anyone think of several ideas to start with?
fish, fruits. anything creative that would make a good portrait.
and maybe a good idea for my exam o.o

help would be much appreciated^^

What about creating a portrait using other portraits?

Or perhaps creating the portrait out of materials that relate to your subject. This image of Amy Whinehouse is an excellent example of that -

If you have to paint it, then simply paint pill shapes instead of gluing onto a board. I would not recommend doing this exact piece, as that would not be very original, but this is just an idea.
Try creating the image from items that relate to the person, it says something about them and who they are. For example, maybe the person whose portrait you are doing is really into cats. You could paint them using cat outlines or different fur colours. Perhaps you paint someone famous, like Brad Pitt - his face could be made up of buttons to show his role in the movie Benjamin Button.

Another approach could be actually using physical items on a board to create a portrait, such as nails, screws, maybe using fruit loops cereal even!etc. Try picking things that you can get a lot of for cheap. These are just some ideas to help you get thinking :) Hopefully they can help get you inspired :)
