Painting paperclay with watercolour?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me whether painting paperclay with watercolour paints is something that just shouldn't be done; I've looked around and so far I've gathered that it's not a good idea and would rub off. However, the thing I'm painting (a model skeleton; watercolours make it quick and easy to achieve a realistic bone appearance, more so than acrylics) would be left behind a display case and not touched. So, would the paint flake off by itself or something, or should it be fine? Also, if I were to seal it with something, would that improve the chances of it staying on? Thanks very much!
