Would someone please enlighten me as to where "Madame X", John Singer Sargent's painting is now located? Also, where are the bulk of his paintings located? I've spent 1/2 hour on the net searching and can't seem to find anything about his exhibits!!!! Frustrating!! Thank you!

Madame X is located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

That site http://www.johnsingersargent.org/ has the most extensive collection of Sargent's images online. Go through them and it gives you the location of the paintings (if it's known).

By the way, I got to see an exhibition of Sargent's portraits at the New Orleans Museum of Art years ago. Wow, his work is amazing in person.

Here's the Met's site on "Madame X."

Sargent's paintings are all over. The Wikipedia site illustrates quite a few, and the locations are given for most. Where they are not, you need only click on the image and then scroll down on the page with the enlargement. See below.

The Olga site also gives locations, and there's a Wiki site specifically on "Madame X," (and also the standard Metropolitan Museum site), so I'm a bit puzzled that you say you couldn't find anything.

What search terms were you using? The proper approach is simply to google "Sargent" and "Madame X". That would have taken you to a site giving all of the information you needed.
