Are there any contemporary artists who can match Leonardo Da Vinci?

When we talk of great painters, we think Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, and Michelangelo...Are there any great painters today who can paint as good as the old masters?

Art and time will choose the great artists of today. True that there were thousands of artists even at the time of Leonardo but their (Leonardo, Michelangelo) genius went far beyond painting and drawing. Today's 'great artists' have been chosen by svengalis who in truth, interpret for an art- ignorant culture. Even in my own city I have seen many 'great artists', 'come and go' who were raved about for being the next 'big' thing. Somewhere there are artists working on their own unique vision and and their art will become the masterworks of our time. Tried and true to the formula, most will not see their fame and will be exploited after their passing. I implore you to go to a gallery and see the works of artists who have received the "Great Nod" and just reflect, look at the work and ask yourself ;does this painting ,sculpture, etc. move me? Where am I in this work?....and if its fame you want without much talent or accomplishment to warrant the acclaim ,,,I suggest, You Tube.

That will eventually change in time. The reason they are considered illustrators is because most of the work they did was commissioned for used as book cover art or as advertisement art. Norman Rockwell for example became famous as an illustrator for the Post magazine, something he will always be associated with, but is definitely a painter and a great artist. Frank Frazetta's art is considered fantasy art and he may have a harder time shaking off the ''illustrator'' thing from his resume, but i've never heard him complain about it.
