How to Decorate a White Bedroom When You Can't Paint in a College Apartment

0 votes
Colleges typically prohibit students from painting their dorm rooms, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your comfort. Those bare, white walls are a blank canvas that can be accessorized with posters, corkboard and any other items you can manage to affix to the walls. Wall hangings are inexpensive and can be swapped out as often as you prefer to keep your room exciting and add personality to your living space.

Hang a corkboard on your wall. A corkboard can be used to organize your schedule using sticky notes, or as an inspiration board for collecting images and fabric swatches.

Pin a poster to your wall, or place the poster in a frame and hang it on the wall to give your room a cozy feel. Make sure you can hang a frame on the wall by contacting your dorm's advisor, as some walls may not support thick nails for frames.

Choose a color to use throughout your room. Varying tints or shades of a color create a unifying theme in your college dorm. For example, a pale blue lamp pairs well with navy-colored bedding, and can complement framed artwork that contains similar colors.

    4
Liven up your living space with colorful bedding. Duvet covers are a relatively cheap way to personalize your college dorm, and make the bed the focal point of your room when contrasted with the white walls. Bold colors draw your eyes to the bed for a dramatic appearance, while dark colors create a muted, sophisticated look.

Include home accents. Place curtains over your college apartment's window if a rod or hooks are already installed on either side of the window. Add some life to your living space with a small to medium-sized plant.
