Van Gogh Sunflowers was on Display Again for the British Public

It is reported by British media on October 28 that two paintings of Van Gogh Sunflowers series will be held in Combination exhibition on 25 January to 27 April next year at the National Gallery in London. After 65 years, Sunflowers series of paintings is on display again for the British public .

Sunflowers  series is the masterpiece of Van Gogh. He created a total of 11 relevant sunflower paintings, which are distributed in Netherlands, Britain, the United States, Japan, Germany and other countries. This exhibition will show the collection from Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum and the National Gallery of London. The Sunflowers painting lent from Van Gogh Museum to the British was created in 1888, which is the most famous one of the series of works.  The collection painting of London National Gallery was purchased by the museum in 1924 from Van Gogh’s family, which is the fourth one of the series of works, depicting the sunflower’s petals gradual dying and colors fading. According to expert’s assessments, auction prices of the two paintings were about 100 million pounds. It is worth mentioning that the latest research results on the process and materials used in painting Sunflowers will also be on display together with the two paintings.

It is known that Sunflower has been one of the most popular collections in London National Gallery. Over the past 10 years, the Museum sold one million posters and postcards in the theme of  Sunflower.
